Privacy Policy

KnowMyself is designed to help you better understand your thoughts, moods, patterns, habits, and experiences while respecting the personal nature of the information you choose to record.

This Privacy Policy explains what information KnowMyself may collect, how that information may be used, when information may be shared with service providers, and the choices you have regarding your information.

In this Privacy Policy, "KnowMyself," "we," "our," or "us" refers to the operator of the KnowMyself application and website. "You" or "user" refers to anyone who uses the KnowMyself mobile application, visits KnowMyself.app, communicates with us, or otherwise interacts with our services.

The KnowMyself mobile application, website, and related services are collectively referred to as the "Services."

1. Our Approach to Privacy

KnowMyself may contain deeply personal information, including journal entries, mood information, reflections, answers to prompts, and other information you choose to record.

We believe this information should be treated differently from ordinary application data.

  • We do not sell your personal journal content.
  • We do not use your private journal entries to serve third-party advertising.
  • We do not allow advertisers to access your journal entries.

Where possible, KnowMyself is designed to process and store personal information directly on your device or through services you control, such as Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

Certain optional features, particularly AI-powered features, may require information to be processed by external service providers. When that occurs, we describe those practices below.

2. Information You Create in KnowMyself

Depending on the features you use, you may enter information such as:

  • Journal entries
  • Mood selections
  • Daily reflections
  • Answers to questions or prompts
  • Goals
  • Habits
  • Notes
  • Tags
  • Check-in responses
  • Personal preferences
  • Information used to generate insights or summaries

We refer to this information collectively as "Journal Content." KnowMyself does not use your Journal Content for third-party advertising or sell it to data brokers.

How Journal Content is stored and processed may depend on the features you enable. When information is stored only on your device, we generally cannot view or retrieve that information. Deleting the application or locally stored data may permanently remove that information unless it has separately been backed up or synchronized.

KnowMyself may allow you to synchronize information between Apple devices using iCloud. When iCloud synchronization is enabled, the applicable information is stored and transmitted using Apple's iCloud infrastructure and is subject to Apple's privacy and security practices. KnowMyself does not receive your Apple ID password or payment credentials. You can manage iCloud access through the settings provided by Apple.

3. AI-Powered Features

KnowMyself may offer optional artificial intelligence features intended to help users identify patterns, summarize reflections, generate prompts, or better understand information they have recorded.

Examples may include:

  • Summarizing recent journal entries
  • Identifying recurring themes
  • Creating personalized reflection questions
  • Providing weekly or monthly insights
  • Highlighting patterns in moods or habits
  • Generating suggested questions for further reflection
  • Producing personalized observations based on information you choose to provide

AI-generated information is intended for personal reflection and informational purposes. It should not be treated as medical, psychological, psychiatric, diagnostic, or professional healthcare advice.

Some AI features may require portions of your Journal Content or other information you provide to be transmitted to an AI service provider. We seek to limit the information transmitted to what is reasonably necessary to provide the feature you requested. KnowMyself may use third-party artificial intelligence providers to perform this processing. Where available, we configure third-party AI services so that information transmitted through KnowMyself is not used by those providers to train their general-purpose AI models. We do not sell Journal Content submitted through AI features.

AI features are optional. Where applicable, you may choose whether to use them and may be able to control which information is included in AI processing. Disabling an AI feature will prevent future use of your information for that feature, although information previously processed by a third-party provider may remain temporarily within that provider's systems according to its applicable retention and security practices.

4. App Usage and Technical Information

When you use KnowMyself, we may automatically receive limited technical information about how the application performs. This information may include:

  • Device type
  • Operating system and version
  • Application version
  • General application activity
  • Features accessed
  • Session duration
  • Crash information
  • Error logs
  • Diagnostic information
  • Approximate geographic region derived from an IP address
  • Performance information

We may use this information to maintain the application, diagnose crashes and bugs, understand which features are useful, improve performance, develop new features, and prevent abuse or security issues. Where possible, analytics information is aggregated or de-identified. KnowMyself does not use your private Journal Content as advertising analytics.

5. Analytics

We may use analytics providers to understand general usage of KnowMyself and our website. Analytics may tell us information such as how frequently a feature is opened, whether users complete onboarding, how long sessions generally last, or whether a particular screen produces an error. Analytics are intended to help us improve KnowMyself rather than to build advertising profiles based on your private reflections. Where required, you may be provided with controls for analytics or tracking within the application, operating system, website, or cookie preferences.

6. Purchases and Subscriptions

KnowMyself may offer paid subscriptions, one-time purchases, or other premium features. Purchases made through Apple's App Store are processed by Apple. We generally do not receive your complete credit card number, banking information, or Apple ID password.

We may receive limited information associated with a transaction, such as:

  • Whether you have an active subscription
  • Subscription tier
  • Purchase status
  • Renewal status
  • Expiration date
  • Transaction identifier
  • Eligibility for premium features

This information may be processed directly by Apple or by a subscription-management service used by KnowMyself. Your purchase is also governed by the terms and privacy policies of the applicable app marketplace or payment provider.

7. Information You Provide When Contacting Us

If you contact KnowMyself for support, feedback, questions, or another request, we may collect information including your name, email address, information contained in your message, screenshots or files you choose to provide, and technical information necessary to investigate a problem. We use this information to respond to you, provide customer support, investigate technical issues, and improve our Services. Please avoid including sensitive Journal Content in support requests unless it is necessary for us to understand the issue and you are comfortable sharing it.

8. Website Information and Cookies

When you visit KnowMyself.app, certain technical information may be collected automatically. This may include browser type, device information, pages viewed, referring website, approximate location, date and time of your visit, and general website interaction information. We may use cookies or similar technologies for essential website functionality and analytics. If we use optional analytics or other cookies that require consent under applicable law, we may provide a mechanism allowing you to manage those preferences.

9. Emails and Launch Notifications

If you provide your email address to receive launch notifications, product announcements, newsletters, or other updates from KnowMyself, we will use your email address for that purpose. We may use an email service provider to deliver those messages. You can unsubscribe from promotional email communications at any time by using the unsubscribe link included in the message. We may still send non-promotional communications where necessary, such as responses to support requests or important notices relating to a service you use.

10. Information We Do Not Sell

KnowMyself does not sell your Journal Content. We also do not sell personal information to third parties for monetary compensation. We do not provide advertisers with access to your private journal entries, mood history, reflections, or AI conversations for the purpose of targeting advertising. If our practices materially change, we will update this Privacy Policy and provide any notices or choices required by applicable law.

11. Service Providers

We may work with companies that help us operate KnowMyself. Depending on the features offered, these service providers may include companies providing cloud infrastructure, application hosting, database infrastructure, analytics, crash reporting, email delivery, customer support, subscription management, payment processing, artificial intelligence processing, and security services. These providers may process information only as needed to perform services for KnowMyself and subject to their contractual, legal, and security obligations. We seek to limit the amount of personal information shared with service providers to what is reasonably necessary for their function.

12. When We May Disclose Information

In addition to disclosures to service providers, we may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to a valid legal process, protect the security or integrity of KnowMyself, investigate fraud or misuse, protect the rights, property, or safety of KnowMyself, our users, or others, or complete a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of our business. If ownership of KnowMyself changes, personal information may be transferred as part of that transaction subject to applicable law. We do not voluntarily provide private Journal Content to third parties merely because they request it.

13. Data Retention

We retain information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose for which it was collected, to operate our Services, or to satisfy applicable legal requirements. Retention periods vary depending on the type of information.

  • Journal Content: Retention depends on where the information is stored, your synchronization settings, and whether you delete the information.
  • Diagnostic and crash information: May be retained for a limited period to investigate technical problems and monitor application stability.
  • Analytics information: May be retained for a reasonable period to understand usage trends. Aggregated or de-identified information may be retained longer.
  • Customer support information: May be retained after a request is resolved so that we can maintain support records, resolve future issues, and comply with legal obligations.
  • Email marketing information: Generally retained until you unsubscribe, request deletion, or the information is no longer reasonably needed.

When personal information is no longer needed, we may delete, aggregate, or de-identify it.

14. Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect information processed through KnowMyself. However, no application, device, network, storage system, or method of electronic transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure. You are also responsible for protecting access to your device, Apple account, passwords, and other credentials. We encourage the use of device security features such as a passcode, Face ID, or Touch ID when available.

15. Your Privacy Choices

Depending on your device, jurisdiction, and the KnowMyself features you use, you may be able to:

  • Delete journal entries
  • Delete other information stored in the application
  • Disable certain analytics
  • Disable AI features
  • Change notification permissions
  • Change iCloud permissions
  • Control application permissions through your device settings
  • Unsubscribe from marketing communications
  • Request access to certain information we maintain about you
  • Request correction or deletion of certain information

Some information may be stored directly on your device or through your personal iCloud account rather than on systems controlled by KnowMyself. In those cases, we may not have the technical ability to retrieve, modify, or delete that information on your behalf.

16. Privacy Rights for Certain U.S. Residents

Residents of certain U.S. states may have additional privacy rights under applicable state privacy laws. Depending on where you live and whether the applicable law applies to KnowMyself, these rights may include the right to know what categories of personal information we collect, request access to personal information, request correction of inaccurate information, request deletion of certain information, obtain a portable copy of certain information, know the categories of third parties to whom information has been disclosed, opt out of certain types of data processing, and exercise privacy rights without unlawful discrimination. KnowMyself does not sell Journal Content. If applicable law provides you with these rights, you may contact us using the information provided at the end of this policy. We may need to verify your identity before completing certain requests.

17. European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and Similar Jurisdictions

If privacy laws such as the General Data Protection Regulation ("GDPR") apply to the processing of your personal information, KnowMyself will process personal data only when there is an appropriate legal basis. Those bases may include consent for optional features or processing you affirmatively choose, performance of a contract when processing is necessary to provide a service you requested, legitimate interests when reasonably necessary to operate, protect, maintain, or improve KnowMyself and those interests are not overridden by your privacy rights, and legal obligations when processing is required to comply with applicable law.

Where applicable, you may have rights including access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, withdrawal of consent, objection to certain processing, and filing a complaint with your applicable data protection authority. Withdrawing consent does not affect processing that lawfully occurred before consent was withdrawn.

18. International Data Processing

KnowMyself and our service providers may process information in countries other than the country where you live. Privacy and data protection laws may differ between jurisdictions. Where required by applicable law, we use appropriate safeguards for transfers of personal information between jurisdictions.

19. Children's Privacy

KnowMyself is not intended for children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. Users may also be required to meet a higher minimum age in jurisdictions where applicable law requires parental or guardian consent for processing personal information. If you believe that a child has provided personal information to KnowMyself in violation of applicable law, please contact us so that we can investigate and take appropriate action.

20. Health and Wellness Disclaimer

KnowMyself is a self-reflection, journaling, and personal insight application. KnowMyself is not a healthcare provider and is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any medical or mental health condition. Information, insights, questions, summaries, AI responses, assessments, or other content provided through KnowMyself should not be considered a substitute for professional medical, psychological, psychiatric, or therapeutic advice. If you have concerns about your physical or mental health, you should contact an appropriate qualified professional.

21. Third-Party Services and Links

KnowMyself may contain links to websites, applications, or services that we do not operate. This Privacy Policy does not govern those third-party services. We encourage you to review the privacy policies of any external service before providing personal information to it.

22. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically as KnowMyself changes, new features are introduced, service providers change, or privacy laws evolve. When we make changes, we will update the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how we process personal information, we may provide additional notice when appropriate or required by law. Your continued use of KnowMyself after an updated Privacy Policy becomes effective means the updated policy will apply to your subsequent use of the Services, subject to applicable law.

23. Contact Us

Questions, privacy requests, or concerns regarding this Privacy Policy may be sent through our contact page at https://knowmyself.app.

For requests involving privacy rights, please include enough information for us to understand your request and, where necessary, verify your identity.
